The story behind “that bracelet” on Angela Simmons

If you’re a hardcore Angela Simmons fan, you may have noticed the Pastry shoes designer has a favorite green bracelet that she wears a lot.

Maybe Angela’s looking for inspiration for her own Pastry Jewelry line, rumored to be dropping this or next year!

It’s called the Malachite Bead and Rough Diamond DEF Stretch bracelet, by the Simmons Jewelry Co. It has a genuine rough diamond in a small gold cage. It’s on an elastic band so it slips on and off easily.

The Malachite Bead and Rough Diamond DEF Stretch Bracelet is special. When you purchase a Green Bracelet created by Simmons Jewelry Co, you are supporting the education and empowerment of African people and communities where diamonds are a natural resource.

Simmons Jewelry Co. will donate twenty dollars from the sale of this bracelet to the Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF), a non-profit international organization that contributes all of its resources to educational programs in Africa.

The line was inspired by a recent fact-finding trip to Botswana and South Africa taken by Russell Simmons and a Simmons Jewelry Co. delegation to see how diamonds were empowering Africans where they are a natural resource. Upon his return, Simmons and Simmons Jewelry Co. announced the formation of the Diamond Empowerment Fund (D.E.F.) and the Green Initiative. The D.E.F. is an international, non-profit organization, with a mission to raise money for educational programs to uplift the people and communities of Africa.

What a GREAT idea. Russell promoted it hard last year and a bunch of celebs took up the cause:

I have mine, and I wear it everyday. I've only seen 2 other Sistas with them on and we shook them at one another. I love it. It helped to open my eyes about other awarenesses, too.
