Controversy: Angela Simmons’ Interracial Relationship

Angela - Skillz blog

So, Angela Simmons posted this on her blog.  Read and be surprised:

Hello Global Grinders!

It has been a while since my last post but I’ve been super busy traveling all over the place..sheessh 🙂

Now that I have a moment to sit down and reflect, I wanted to talk to you about something I have recently noticed. I am a lil surprised at the number of people that seem to disapprove of the relationship with my boyfriend. I find this reality to be kind of hard to accept. There are times when I notice people giving us long hard stares and those stares are usually from my own people!

Honestly, I wish everyone could benefit from the beauty that can come from experiences that happen outside of your own comfort zone. It is truly a beautiful thing that can add so much to your life.

Give it a shot and you can learn so much from a person you never thought you’d talk to or have something in common with. I’m not just talking about dating but about all types of relationships.

Sometimes society makes it hard for us to be comfortable enough in our own skin to embrace others who are different.

I am a firm believer that we are all the same.

Basically what I’m saying is love everyone. Rise above the hate.

I don’t feel like this subject gets enough attention, so I thought I would share this with my GG family.

Ok, well I’m done preaching! I’m going back to work…

Love ya 🙂
Angela

Wow, this is rather unexpected.  Ang and Skillz got haters?  Seriously?  Aren’t they the sweetest couple ever?  It’s just silly to make their relationship a racial issue.  And yes, we are all the same and love isn’t limited to some groups.  People should be able to love anyone they want.

Pastry Shoes co-founder, Angela Simmons, began dating Skillz, a Dallas-based producer, since last year and they’ve been nothing but cute with each other.  The Simmons sisters are both in loving relationships -Angela and Skillz, Vanessa Simmons and Mike Wayans- and both sisters look happy and fabulous.

Tell us, Pastryheads, what’s your thoughts on Angela Simmons and Skillz’s inter-racial relationship?

I think that is wrong, to hate on love. Me being white and Latina, I don’t see any problem with interracial couples. One time when I was on the bus there was a couple, the guy was black and the girl was white and they had a beautiful baby. They kissed and this other girl on the bus made a face. I was like how can you do that, disapprove of love because they are not the same race. I mean if the people are in love it doesn’t matter if they are gay, interracial anything.

inter-racial couples are great because it's not ur skin color that matters but wat u hav on the inside.

I agree Love knows no color or boundaries. It is sad that there are still people trying to knock down Romeo and Juliet. At least the couples these days are stronger and stand up for themselves.
