Russy Simmons Gets Fly at LIFE Project for Africa

You all know that the Simmonses has two really successful young girls: Pastry owners, Vanessa and Angela Simmons. But don’t forget that the Simmons family also has such fine men.  First it’s Rev. Joseph “Run” Simmons, the wise dad / hip-hop legend and then uncle Russell Simmons the entrepreneur, then it’s down to the kids: Jojo the rapper, Diggy the clothing designer AND rapper, and last but not least the cute -but often overlooked, Russy.

And to prove how he’s all grown up and getting cuter with a high fly factor, here are some Russy pics from the LIFE Project for Africa event a couple of days ago.

Add a few more years and he’ll be a superfly Batman in his own right. LOL. Anyway, Russy kicked it with the girls and he seemed to enjoy it.

But there’s only one girl he’s got his eyes on.

But what’s the event all about, you ask?  Well, LIFE Project for Africa has a mission to save life and give hope to the poor in Africa, through services that promote HEALTH, provide EDUCATION, tackle POVERTY, provide HOMES (Shelter) to the homeless, and support ORPHANS and vulnerable children among the very poor communities. According to their website, currently LIFE Project is doing quite a lot of things to benefit the unfortunate people in Africa such as:

• Empowering local organizations to provide critical services to the people in Africa.
• Partnering to construct wards for Njia Health Center in Dar-Es-Salaam, to eventually serve a community of 122,000 people.
• Partnering with Rotary International to provide water.
• Supporting indigenous organizations whose goal is capacity-building for local projects involved in health, economic empowerment, education, care of orphans and providing shelter.
• Providing tuition to vulnerable and orphaned children in Africa.
• Shipping medical supplies and equipment to Njia Health Center, in partnership with several U.S. hospitals and health providers.
• Participating in the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (Emergency Plan / PEPFAR).
• Embarking on an educational initiative called Mwambo Computer & E-learning. The focus is increasing access to basic quality education through e-learning programs.
• Supporting the building of a school in Tanzania.

What have Diggy and Russy Simmons been up to?

Pastry fans, did you notice?  We’ve been talking about Daddy’s Girls, Vanessa and Angela Simmons  so much lately that we have been leaving out Daddy Rev. Run’s boys out: Daniel “Diggy” Simmons and Russell “Russy” Simmons II.

But Diggy and Russy shouldn’t be forgotten… mostly because they are just so cute. Check this video out, posted a month ago.

Don’t they look great together?  Who says technology keeps family members apart?  In my opinion, a great game console like the Nintendo Wii only brings everybody closer together.

You know that Diggy and Russy are just adorable here. Look at the orange pants on Diggy, that’s some fly getup.  These boys, just like their sisters, really know how to chill in style.  Which leads me to wonder…

While we’re waiting for the new season of Run’s House to start, here’s a little slideshow of two of the Simmons boys, Russy Simmons and Diggy Simmons. Russy and Diggy are brothers to our favorite designers, Angela and Vanessa Simmons of Pastry.

These boyz are heartbreakers. The photos show them out and about at parties, in fashion shows, clowning around at the house. Must be fun to be a Simmons!

The Simmons Family at Nickelodeon’s 23rd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards

Amidst all the rumors surrounding her love life / friendship with Rob Kardashian, it’s good to see Angela Simmons still spends quality time with her family.  The Simmons clan -or in TV lingo: the full cast of Run’s House, appeared together at Nickelodeon’s 23rd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards, March 27th 2010 in Los Angeles.

The whole family was there without Vanessa Simmons.  Wonder where she went.  But then look at that! Jojo Simmons is not anymore the only hottie in the family.  Looks like Diggy who just got a major record deal is emerging as a very good looking young man -and a talented one at that too.  And guess what, little Russy isn’t anymore a little boy!  He’s lookin’ good and we’re all waiting on what will come from him in the future.  Check the swagger, maybe Russy’s cut to be a model!

Speaking of model and swagger, Angela Simmons appeared with her own style as usual, donning a yellow corset over a plain white tee.  See, Pastryheads, this is what we call creating your own outfit, and Angela Simmons is a champion.

Too bad we missed Vanessa.

Weekend Love: Diggy Simmons and The Simmons Boys

Let’s take the spotlight off sisters Vanessa and Angela Simmons for a while.  We know this is a blog about their hot shoe and clothing line: Pastry, but this is too good to pass.  Besides, if you love Vanessa and Angela, you usually love the whole family too, right?

Well this weekend, it’s our pleasure to give you a sneak peek of what went down in the 10th Annual Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation youth holiday party at The Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza.  Why?  Because the Simmons men were all there, from Rev. Run, JoJo Simmons, Russy Simmons and the busy bee: Diggy Simmons.  Diggy rapped in front of the audience and his performance was well-received.   As you might already know, Diggy has recently released his mixtape: “The First Flight”.  So enjoy the pictures, Pastryheads, and have a great weekend!

Diggy Simmons Raps: “She Don’t Want a Man”

If you like Keri Hilson and Asher Roth’s track: “She Don’t Want a Man”, well you’re not the only one.  Diggy Simmons loves it too and he made a version of his own.  Check it out:

Diggy sounds pretty awesome!  Talent must flow real good in the Simmons family.  It started with Dad, Rev. Run Simmons, the pioneer of hip hop with his legendary group: Run DMC and on to Jojo Simmons who’s doing well with his group Team Blackout.  Angela Simmons attempted the singing track with her single “Center of Attention” but hasn’t been seen returning to the studio (don’t we all hope she will?) and now… another rapper from the Simmons family has emerged:  Diggy Simmons.

Will Russy Simmons follow suit?  We’ll just have to wait, won’t we?
