Oscar Salinas a.k.a. Skillz of Dallas-based duo “Play n Skillz” has been dating Pastry co-creator and owner, Angela Simmons. He recently spilled his heart out and brings on his relationship with Angela to the public eye. Check what he has to say.
Skillz looked calmer in answering the questions compared to his bro, Juan “Play” Salinas, regarding the whole paparazzi hoopla. That’s kinda expected, though, as some gossip websites haven’t been too kind on Skillz and Angela, due to their inter-racial relationship. Guess that’s not the number one thing on Skillz’s mind, because he’s more into talking about future dad-in-law (we hope!), Rev Run.
“He’s cool. He’s not really different from nobody else. Being around her whole family is kinda crazy ‘coz you would’ve think I’d feel a bit intimidated. Her dad coming from the music background like me, things are normal.”
His admiration towards Rev Run doesn’t end there. Skillz praised Rev’s relevance and interest in today’s music scene.
“You know, what’s crazy is that he wants to know more about the younger generation. He told me about how he wants to keep his ears in tune with the younger cast.”
Looks like boy’s getting along with Rev real well. Any thoughts on this, Pastryheads?

The Simmons sisters will be busy again this weekend as both Vanessa and Angela will attend the annual gala Dallas Rocks 2009: Diamond Dinner benefiting Diamond Empowerment Fund (D.E.F.) honoring Bush twins, Barbara Bush and Jenna Bush Hager.
Vanessa and Angela Simmons will present Bush twins, Barbara bush and Jenna Bush Hager with the Rising Star Empowerment Award. As we all know, Vanessa and Angela are nieces of the founder of the Diamond Empowerment Fund, Russell Simmons, who founded D.E.F. in 2007. Uncle Russ and Anthony Anderson of Law and Order are hosts of the event. Did you know that last year in 2008, the Dallas Rocks gala raised $250,000 benefiting D.E.F.? The organization helps to benefit CIDA (Community and Individual Development Association) and African Leadership Academy, both based in Johannesburg, South Africa. These kinds of gala dinners are not the only way for them to raise funds. Remember the Malachite Green Bracelet? The symbol of the cause itself has raised more than $650,000 for the fund to date. D.E.F. members include individuals in the diamond and jewelry industries and others who are committed to the empowerment of Africa.
Barbara Bush is the president and co-founder of Global Health Corps. She’s also active as a member of UNICEF’s Next Generation steering Committe. Her twin, Jenna Bush Hager is a teacher and a contributing correspondent for the Today Show.
The Bush twins won’t be the only ones receiving awards. Other honorees include Marilyn Auger, founder of the Marilyn Auger Family Foundation, a Dallas-based nonprofit that seeks to break the cycle of poverty. There’s also former NBA athlete, Dikembe Mutombo, who’ll receive an honor for the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation, which seeks to improve living conditions in his native, Congo.
The event is going to take place on November 14, 2009 from 6:30 P.M. to 1:00 A.M. at the Dallas Historic Union Station. If you decide to go there just to catch a glimpse of the Simmons Sisters, good luck to you. And just an insider info: Rev. Run and Justine Simmons are going to be there and it’s gonna be Rev. Run’s birthday on the same night of the gala.
A few days ago we posted pictures of Angela Simmons and her beau, Oscar Salinas a.k.a. Skillz of “Play N Skillz” the Dallas-based producer in a Halloween bash.
Well guess what, today we actually found the video footage of Ang and Skillz.
Whoooaaa Angela did the Stanky Leg! LOL. Loves it. By the way, the presenter said Vanessa Simmons was there too, where was she? Did you by any chance spot her somewhere? Nessa wasn’t on the credit title, but she was mentioned. Anybody managed to spot her?
One more thing, we all know that Skillz is cute (and sadly taken), but don’t you think Play is cute too?
Thoughts?
Halloween was just a few days ago and to some people -or websites- it’s still hard to not talk about it. With the abundance of pictures from various Halloween events attended by celebs, it leaves PastryShoesCollection.com to do nothing but, well, talk about it! LOL. There’s no best or worst Halloween costume here, as in the lineup there are only those memorable enough to keep everybody talking -or taking reference for next year’s festivities. Let’s start!

Okay, if your guess is Rihanna comes out as a sexier version of ‘Tigger’ from “Winnie The Pooh”… well, maybe. Nobody’s sure, but judging by the tail, it might be what she was heading to.

Liking Mariah Carey’s costume, but really not sure about her hubby’s. What do you think?

Usually you don’t wear your Halloween costume, the costume wears you. But that’s not the case with Kim Kardashian, who was a side-splitting image of Disney’s world-famous Princess Jasmine from the animated picture “Aladdin”. Speaking of trying so hard to look like somebody, take a peek at Monique Coleman. Can you guess who she tried to be?

All we know is, Jay-Z won’t be putting a ring on that. But nice try. Speaking of Jay-Z, he opted to keep his costume simple during his Halloween night concert in Toronto, Canada.

By the way, have you heard Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind” feat. Alicia Keys? Listen carefully around the 0:30 mark.
The lyric goes:
…Right there off of Broadway
Brought me back to that McDonalds
Took it to my stash spot
560 State Street
Catch me in the kitchen like a Simmons whipping Pastry…
Does he mean the Simmons Sisters?
Oh well, that brings us all to the last but not least costume-wearer last Halloween: Angela Simmons, who showed up at a party with her boyfriend, Oscar “Skillz” Salinas.

Minnie Mouse chic! Or is it French maid chic?

Oh, there’s a tail. Ok, Minnie Mouse, it is, then! LOL!

So guess what, maybe we figured out what’s on Angela Simmons’ iPod lately. Yup, maybe you missed this one but Angela’s boyfriend, Skillz, just released a new mixtape called “Recession Proof” on October 27th. The Grammy Award Winning Duo recently signed a label imprint deal with SRC/Universal Records and have been pretty busy working in the studio with Nelly, Hurricane Chris, Bun B and Pitbull.
There are totally cool tracks on their mixtape featuring Slim Thug, Bun B, Talib Kweli, Hurricane Chris, Slim formally of 112, Big Tuck, Krayzie Bone and lots of dope stars.
Play of Play-N-Skillz stated:
“We titled this mixtape “Recession Proof” because our goal is to motivate people to stay strong in this recession and not let the situation get the best of them.”
Seeing that Angela Simmons came from a family of good achievements, it’s no surprise that her boyfriend Oscar Salinas a.k.a. Skillz has also proven his skills in making good music. Play-N-Skillz have been recipients of an ASCAP Award and scored their second Grammy for producing Lil’ Wayne’s hit single “Got Money” featuring T-Pain.
There is another good news: You can get the Recession Proof CD at Amazon today! Yep, and if you need more convincing, check out this Play-N-Skillz video titled XXPensive -yes it’s on the CD. And yes, Angela Simmons, we admit it: you have a great taste when it comes to boyfriends. Congratulations on the new album!

So, Angela Simmons posted this on her blog. Read and be surprised:
Hello Global Grinders!
It has been a while since my last post but I’ve been super busy traveling all over the place..sheessh

Now that I have a moment to sit down and reflect, I wanted to talk to you about something I have recently noticed. I am a lil surprised at the number of people that seem to disapprove of the relationship with my boyfriend. I find this reality to be kind of hard to accept. There are times when I notice people giving us long hard stares and those stares are usually from my own people!
Honestly, I wish everyone could benefit from the beauty that can come from experiences that happen outside of your own comfort zone. It is truly a beautiful thing that can add so much to your life.
Give it a shot and you can learn so much from a person you never thought you’d talk to or have something in common with. I’m not just talking about dating but about all types of relationships.
Sometimes society makes it hard for us to be comfortable enough in our own skin to embrace others who are different.
I am a firm believer that we are all the same.
Basically what I’m saying is love everyone. Rise above the hate.
I don’t feel like this subject gets enough attention, so I thought I would share this with my GG family.
Ok, well I’m done preaching! I’m going back to work…
Love ya
Angela
Wow, this is rather unexpected. Ang and Skillz got haters? Seriously? Aren’t they the sweetest couple ever? It’s just silly to make their relationship a racial issue. And yes, we are all the same and love isn’t limited to some groups. People should be able to love anyone they want.
Pastry Shoes co-founder, Angela Simmons, began dating Skillz, a Dallas-based producer, since last year and they’ve been nothing but cute with each other. The Simmons sisters are both in loving relationships -Angela and Skillz, Vanessa Simmons and Mike Wayans- and both sisters look happy and fabulous.
Tell us, Pastryheads, what’s your thoughts on Angela Simmons and Skillz’s inter-racial relationship?
