The Simmons clan is one family known for their strong support for one another. Angela and Vanessa Simmons might be content with their Pastry Shoes and reality show “Daddy’s Girls”, but their little bro -who’s not so little anymore now-, Diggy Simmons, is kickin’ it high. From designing his own upcoming shoe line, “Chivalrous Culture” to releasing his freestyle mixes to the masses, Diggy is growing up to be one heck of a gentleman! Big bro Jojo Simmons posted this in his blog today:

Check out the 1st music video ever from my lil brother Diggy Simmons. This dude is a monster & we know it! Shout out to my lil brother Diggy from flow to swag to lyrics he’s got it all on lock. Some call him the best teen rapper. I think he’s passed that, He’s better than most rappers in the game. He goes in on the Nas beat “Made You Look” and titles it “Flow Stoopid”. That’s the perfect title for this song & video because his flow is stupid on this one! Diggy Simmons is on his way to be a fashion icon & one of greatest rappers.

And yes, we have to agree with Jojo, Diggy is GOOD. What do you think, Pastryheads?

If you’re an avid fan of Angela and Vanessa Simmons’ TV Show: Daddy’s Girls that aired on MTV, you would be familiar with their friend, Brian, from season 2. Here’s the cast picture to refresh your memory.

Yes, THAT cutie! Now, Brian has a cousin who happens to be an awesome artist named John Weaver, and today we’re proud to present John’s artful interpretation of our girl, Angela Simmons! Here’s Angela’s photograph before the artwork:

John is so good, he got into talks with Vanessa Simmons who asked him to do another painting -and a huge one, that is- of Run DMC. Look what he came up with and be wowed.

We’re loving John’s artwork and hopefully he appears in the next season of Daddy’s Girls. Yo, MTV, what’s the news on this? We’ll keep our eyes and ears open.

Baby Kenzo On Ebony Magazine Cover: Total Cuteness!

Vanessa and Angela Simmons’ cousins, Ming and Aoki, had their stepbrother, Kenzo, in late 2009 and their family couldn’t be happier. You see, Ming and Aoki’s mom, Kimora Lee Simmons split from dad, Russell Simmons, and is now married to actor Djimon Hounsou, and had baby Kenzo. Now, in some families, this whole thing could be dramatic and not so pleasant. But in the Simmons household, all they feel is love. Aunt Kimora stated:

“I feel like my life has fallen into the right place in a great way. I’ve been very slow and deliberate, and I feel like it has paid off for me in ways that I could not have imagined.”

Last year, uncle Russell Simmons wrote a beautiful open letter to his ex-wife, praising and thanking her for raising Ming and Aoki so beautifully, do you remember? Here’s an excerpt of the letter:

“…to me, she has been my partner, best friend, consultant, confidant and basically the greatest mother I could ever hope for, for my daughters. I feel so blessed to continue to have such a great personal and professional relationship with her. Every time I spend time with our girls, I credit her for giving them their manners, thoughtfulness, intelligence, beauty and kindness.”

We’re convinced that if all families are like theirs, then this world would be a much better place. Seriously.

Vanessa Simmons on Haiti Earthquake: “Let’s Connect and Do Something”

A huge 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Haiti, late Tuesday afternoon, and most areas in its capital, Port-au-Prince is under severely damaged condition. Although no number of death toll has been confirmed yet, hundreds of thousands of people are feared to have been killed, following the devastating disaster. The world immediately turned its attention to the suffering country, especially from public figures with close ties to Haiti such as musician, Wyclef Jean, who was born in Haiti and “Heroes” actor, Jimmy Jean-Louis, who in the series played a character called “The Haitian”.

The Simmons sisters haven’t got such close bonds to Haiti, but the girls do care a lot and very aware of what’s going on. The awareness doesn’t only involve Vanessa and Angela Simmons, their cousin Jessica and friend, Shawna from their reality series, Daddy’s Girls, also showed concerns about the Haiti devastation.

Shawna tweeted earlier:

Talking to my dad about putting on something to help rasie money for Haiti @angelasimmons @v_simmons we should get on it.

Meanwhile, although not saying anything much, Angela Simmons kept re-tweeting Jessica and Vanessa’s tweets about Haiti and showing her concerns by doing so. Looks like all the Daddy’s Girls gang, like us, are also saddened by the tragedy. Maybe some of you still have no idea on how bad things are in Haiti, right now? Well here are some pictures to give you an idea.

Weekend Love: Diggy Simmons and The Simmons Boys

Let’s take the spotlight off sisters Vanessa and Angela Simmons for a while. We know this is a blog about their hot shoe and clothing line: Pastry, but this is too good to pass. Besides, if you love Vanessa and Angela, you usually love the whole family too, right?

Well this weekend, it’s our pleasure to give you a sneak peek of what went down in the 10th Annual Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation youth holiday party at The Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza. Why? Because the Simmons men were all there, from Rev. Run, JoJo Simmons, Russy Simmons and the busy bee: Diggy Simmons. Diggy rapped in front of the audience and his performance was well-received. As you might already know, Diggy has recently released his mixtape: “The First Flight”. So enjoy the pictures, Pastryheads, and have a great weekend!
