Baby Kenzo On Ebony Magazine Cover: Total Cuteness!

Add to GlobalGrind!

Vanessa and Angela Simmons’ cousins, Ming and Aoki, had their stepbrother, Kenzo, in late 2009 and their family couldn’t be happier.  You see, Ming and Aoki’s mom, Kimora Lee Simmons split from dad, Russell Simmons, and is now married to actor Djimon Hounsou, and had baby Kenzo.  Now, in some families, this whole thing could be dramatic and not so pleasant.  But in the Simmons household, all they feel is love.  Aunt Kimora stated:

“I feel like my life has fallen into the right place in a great way. I’ve been very slow and deliberate, and I feel like it has paid off for me in ways that I could not have imagined.”

Last year, uncle Russell Simmons wrote a beautiful open letter to his ex-wife, praising and thanking her for raising Ming and Aoki so beautifully, do you remember? Here’s an excerpt of the letter:

“…to me, she has been my partner, best friend, consultant, confidant and basically the greatest mother I could ever hope for, for my daughters. I feel so blessed to continue to have such a great personal and professional relationship with her. Every time I spend time with our girls, I credit her for giving them their manners, thoughtfulness, intelligence, beauty and kindness.”

We’re convinced that if all families are like theirs, then this world would be a much better place.  Seriously.

So, what do you think about baby Kenzo’s first family picture?

The Simmons Sisters Donate To Haiti

Add to GlobalGrind!

Pastry owners and creators, Vanessa and Angela Simmons, have officially announced their commitment to help out in providing relief for the Haiti earthquake victims, through official relief efforts. The Simmons Sisters will deliver donations in form of Pastry shoes and clothing for the local children.

Angela Simmons stated:

“Being able to give Pastry shoes and clothes to these kids during such a devastating and critical time is our way of helping and showing support when it’s needed most”

The sisters reacted quickly to the news by tweeting their concerns and it’s very heartwarming to find that Vanessa and Angela are not just talk. Their humanitarian efforts that Pastry is doing with the American Red Cross will help the Haitian young people whose homes and belongings were destroyed in the massive 7.5 earthquake.

Vanessa Simmons shared her thoughts:

“We can all do something to help. Pastry has chosen to give Haiti’s kids who are displaced and vulnerable to this heart-breaking situation. We pray that they will overcome this unfortunate and horrible tragedy.”

The Simmons Sisters also encouraged you, Pastryheads, to take part in contributing what you can, no matter how small, to help the nation in need. Vanessa Simmons reminded us all:

“We’re encouraging all Pastry shoe fans and loyalists to contribute and donate to the Haiti earthquake relief efforts.”

Angela Simmons added:

“If each of us do our part, we can make a big difference together”.

If you think Vanessa and Angela Simmons are going to just help and get things over with, you’re wrong. Angela said:

“You don’t just give and call it a day. Watching and learning about other ways that we can help, especially in this time of need, is just part of doing the right thing for others.”

So there you go, Pastryheads, no matter how little, a single contribution is better than nothing at all. Let’s all follow Vanessa and Angela Simmons’ lead and help those in need in Haiti.  You can go to the American Red Cross website and find out how you can help.

Vanessa Simmons on Haiti Earthquake: “Let’s Connect and Do Something”

Add to GlobalGrind!

A huge 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Haiti, late Tuesday afternoon, and most areas in its capital, Port-au-Prince is under severely damaged condition.   Although no number of death toll has been confirmed yet, hundreds of thousands of people are feared to have been killed, following the devastating disaster.  The world immediately turned its attention to the suffering country, especially from public figures with close ties to Haiti such as musician, Wyclef Jean, who was born in Haiti and “Heroes” actor, Jimmy Jean-Louis, who in the series played a character called “The Haitian”.

The Simmons sisters haven’t got such close bonds to Haiti, but the girls do care a lot and very aware of what’s going on.  The awareness doesn’t only involve Vanessa and Angela Simmons, their cousin Jessica and friend, Shawna from their reality series, Daddy’s Girls, also showed concerns about the Haiti devastation.

Shawna tweeted earlier:

Just made my donation! How about you? TEXT YELE 501 501 @wyclef IF U DON’T HAVE $ AT LEAST PRAY…#YELE (PLS RT) http://www.yele.org/ 4

Talking to my dad about putting on something to help rasie money for Haiti @angelasimmons @v_simmons we should get on it.

Which Vanessa Simmons replied with:

@shawnagaspard ive been thinking of ways all day!! lets connect and do SOMETHING! #helphaiti

WOW! UPS is shipping anything under 50 lbs to haiti FOR FREE! thats cool #noexcusenottohelp

Ok u have to donate to thru redcross first…but still worth it

And Jessica tweeted:

if each one of my followers donates $5 to help @wyclef & Haiti by textn YELE to 501501 we can raise $159,150..that would b a tremendous help

Meanwhile, although not saying anything much, Angela Simmons kept re-tweeting Jessica and Vanessa’s tweets about Haiti and showing her concerns by doing so.  Looks like all the Daddy’s Girls gang, like us, are also saddened by the tragedy. Maybe some of you still have no idea on how bad things are in Haiti, right now? Well here are some pictures to give you an idea.

Really heartbreaking. Let’s all help the Haitians, Pastryheads.  You can go to http://american.redcross.org to find out how you can help provide relief to the earthquake victims.
