Did you guys watch Rev. Run’s induction ceremony to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland this weekend? In case you missed it, here’s Run DMC’s acceptance speech. Prepare tissues, you guys. It’s so touching!
I’m sure the whole Simmons clan was there but I didn’t see Vanessa and Angela. That was definitely one of the proudest moments in Hip Hop, and as many media, bloggers and fans alike believe, the honor is well-deserved.
Rev. Run was so sweet, reminiscing the old days where he, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and Jam Master Jay used to practice in Jam Master Jay’s living room. He also thanked Justine and his kids including our girls Vanessa and Angela Simmons… and last but not least, brother Russell Simmons who apparently came up with the group’s name. DMC’s thank you speech brought tears to my eyes! Jam Master Jay’s mom also spoke and again, it was emotional.
Congratulations to Rev. Run, Run DMC and the entire Simmons family for the recognition of a lifetime. God bless you all!
