As previously reported by PastryShoesCollection.com, the Simmons Sisters spent last weekend in Dallas at the Dallas Rocks Benefit Dinner, hosted by their uncle Russell Simmons Diamond Dinner benefiting Diamond Empowerment Fund (D.E.F.) honoring Barbara Bush and Jenna Bush Hager. Vanessa and Angela looked fantastic.  Today it’s all about the pictures!

That is an interesting backside of Angela’s dress.  And look at those Malachite bracelets!  The girls clearly supports the Diamond Empowerment Fund set up by their uncle Russell.  By the way, we’re starting to feel Vanessa’s bangs.

Angela and Vanessa weren’t the only ones there. In fact the whole Simmons clan were there.  It was a family affair!

Of course they were all there, it was Rev. Run’s 41st birthday too.  Loving the birthday cake!

The Baby Phat Card and The RushCard: Do you have them?

Add to GlobalGrind!

Kimora - Russell

We all know the economy is not exactly at its best. But we all still have to buy stuff (read: Pastry Shoes). Russell Simmons, the philanthropist, entrepreneur and uncle to Vanessa and Angela Simmons created something different that can help us all in controlling our personal finances -especially avid shoppers like us!

Introducing: the RushCard.

RushCards

RushCard comes in two versions, the RushCard you can see in the picture;  the black and pink Baby Phat design. With options for a ‘pay as you go’ plan and a monthly plan, both cards offer:

  • No monthly, annual, or hidden fees
  • Created by philanthropist and entrepreneur Russell Simmons
  • Everyone is eligible—no credit check or employment verification
  • Quick, easy application
  • Free money loading with direct deposit of pay or government benefits
  • Free 24×7 customer service, activity status, & balance inquiries
  • Use online, over the phone—anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted

There are additional features which will make you be able to…

  • Avoid expensive check cashing fees or worries about NSF, overdraft, or bounced check fees
  • Pay bills online or over the telephone—no more time-consuming trips to pay in cash.
  • Add money to your card conveniently and for free by arranging for direct deposit of some or all of your pay or government benefits—or even your tax refund. You can also transfer money to your card for free using PayPal.
  • Instantly load money on your card at tens of thousands of convenient MoneyGram and CheckFree locations
  • Check your activity status anytime online or by phone for free. (Unlike many other companies, we don’t charge for our 24/7 customer service.)
  • Get cash quickly from over 855,000 ATMs worldwide with a secure PIN number
  • Earn money every time you refer a friend and they get a RushCard ($5.00)

What’s good about a pre-paid card like RushCard compared to a bank-issued card in a way is that there’s no more overdraft bills and you’ll be basically free from general spam mail from the bank. However there are transaction fees that come with these types of cards, so that’s something to watch out for. But hey, it’s all better, anyway.

Did you know that by now, there’s already over 2 million people helped out by RushCard?

In this economy downfall, RushCard seems like a good card to hold on to as they have an optional service that helps build a positive credit rating by reporting the regular bill payments you make with your card to participating credit reporting agencies.

RushCard is the only prepaid card that has this service for their customers.

So how do one get a RushCard? Well, all you need to get approved is your social security number and be over 18. What do you think, Pastryheads?

Russy Simmons Gets Fly at LIFE Project for Africa

Add to GlobalGrind!

You all know that the Simmonses has two really successful young girls: Pastry owners, Vanessa and Angela Simmons. But don’t forget that the Simmons family also has such fine men.  First it’s Rev. Joseph “Run” Simmons, the wise dad / hip-hop legend and then uncle Russell Simmons the entrepreneur, then it’s down to the kids: Jojo the rapper, Diggy the clothing designer AND rapper, and last but not least the cute -but often overlooked, Russy.

And to prove how he’s all grown up and getting cuter with a high fly factor, here are some Russy pics from the LIFE Project for Africa event a couple of days ago.

Russy Simmons 02

Add a few more years and he’ll be a superfly Batman in his own right. LOL. Anyway, Russy kicked it with the girls and he seemed to enjoy it.

Russy Simmons 01

But there’s only one girl he’s got his eyes on.

Russy Simmons 03

Aaawww… how cute is this.  Russy and mom, Justine Simmons. They know how to take a good picture!

But what’s the event all about, you ask?  Well, LIFE Project for Africa has a mission to save life and give hope to the poor in Africa, through services that promote HEALTH, provide EDUCATION, tackle POVERTY, provide HOMES (Shelter) to the homeless, and support ORPHANS and vulnerable children among the very poor communities. According to their website, currently LIFE Project is doing quite a lot of things to benefit the unfortunate people in Africa such as:

  • Empowering local organizations to provide critical services to the people in Africa.
  • Partnering to construct wards for Njia Health Center in Dar-Es-Salaam, to eventually serve a community of 122,000 people.
  • Partnering with Rotary International to provide water.
  • Supporting indigenous organizations whose goal is capacity-building for local projects involved in health, economic empowerment, education, care of orphans and providing shelter.
  • Providing tuition to vulnerable and orphaned children in Africa.
  • Shipping medical supplies and equipment to Njia Health Center, in partnership with several U.S. hospitals and health providers.
  • Participating in the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (Emergency Plan / PEPFAR).
  • Embarking on an educational initiative called Mwambo Computer & E-learning. The focus is increasing access to basic quality education through e-learning programs.
  • Supporting the building of a school in Tanzania.

So Russy Simmons was there for a good cause. A very important cause, that is. Good to know that. If you want to help out, you can check about LIFE For Africa at their official website at www.lifeprojectafrica.org.

Add to GlobalGrind!

While Vanessa and Angela Simmons are busy with their Pastry Shoes line, Diggy Simmons have been working on a mixtape with DJ Spinking and he leaked a preview of his upcoming track for the First Flight (prequel) mixtape.  Check it out.

Wow, boy sounds good!  If you remember, Diggy Simmons once was caught rapping with mom, Justine Simmons on a Run’s House episode and just recently he did his own version of Keri Hilson and Asher Roth’s “She Don’t Want a Man”.  Well, looks like one more Simmons is ready for the spotlight.

What do you think of Diggy’s track, Pastryheads?

Diggy Simmons: No More Space Age

Diggy Simmons Shades

Following the tracks of his older sisters – Pastry Shoes founders, Vanessa and Angela Simmons- Diggy Simmons has been pretty busy gearing up for his clothing and shoe line which was rumored to either be named: “Space Age” or “Space Cadets”.  However, Diggy recently mentioned in his blog that he’s pulling out the two names and is planning to replace them with something way cooler.  As quoted from his blog:

Wussup everyone I’m just chillin busy with school and other things. Had a meeting today for the line. It went really well and no one knows this yet but the name of the brand is neither space age or space cadet anymore in my eyes its WAY doper it captures me and people can say it’s just gonna be another BBC or BAPE yes inspired by of course but I’m gonna innovate a whole new culture in fashion. The sneakers were great that I looked at today there’s just always something that has to be tweaked or made better.

Diggy Simmons meeting

Whoa, looks like Dig’s meeting about some serious stuff.  And speaking of serious, Diggy has entered the working world, involved in meetings and all just like his sisters, Vanessa and Angela.  These Simmons kids never fail to amaze, don’t they?  They start young, with bubbling ideas and original fashion items and truly create their own trend.

Any thoughts about Dig’s upcoming line?  Are you curious just how dope is the dope kicks he’s censoring?  Have you heard anything about this?  Share with all of us here!

Run D.M.C. Goes Broadway!

Add to GlobalGrind!

Run DMC

When talking about Vanessa and Angela Simmons, we all know that the two sisters are daughters of hip hop legend, Rev. Joseph “Run” Simmons, better known as Rev. Run.  He formed the hip hop group Run D.M.C. in the 1980’s along with Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and the late Jason “Jam-Master Jay” Mizell.  The group became an 80’s sensation and is now recognized as one of the pioneers of the hip hop genre.  In fact, Run D.M.C. has been inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, a recognition that’s very significant in the music world.

It just came to PastryShoesCollection.com’s radar, that Run D.M.C. will be the title of an upcoming Broadway musical.  Producer, Paula Wagner, thinks that ast the first hip hop act to cross over and became a major influence in American music, the Run D.M.C story will be told in a unique manner.  Paula, who’s also the producer of “Mission: Impossible” movies, “The Last Samurai” and “Vanilla Sky”, expressed her delight on the possibility to work with Run DMC.

“I feel their story lends itself perfectly to the stage. This project has been a passion of mine for some time and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with them.”

Vanessa Simmons once starred in a play.  Will she be involved in this project?  No words about that yet, and again, PastryShoesCollection.com will fine tune its radar to let you know should there be any progress.

Can’t wait to see the play, though!
