Vanessa Simmons And The L Word

Mike-Vanessa

So apparently things have been really deep in the relationship department for Vanessa Simmons and you’d never think that Nessa would be so public with her love life.  In an interview with Black Voices, Vanessa Simmons uttered the L word to express her feelings for her boo, Michael Wayans.

What can we expect for the second season of ‘Daddy’s Girls’?

Beyond Pastry, although it has grown bigger than anything Angela and I ever expected, I finally introduce my boyfriend that I have been hiding. Well, not hiding, but I am a very private person when it comes to relationships. Everyone’s like, “You can’t keep not saying anything.” So, now it’s out there, and my boyfriend will appear in a couple of the episodes. I am nervous. I can say that. But I love my relationship, and I love my boyfriend. And now it’s out there for everyone to see. You’ll love him just as much as I love him. He’s hilarious. My boyfriend comes from a very funny family.

What is your boyfriend’s name?
Rev. Run

His name is Michael Wayans. That’s all I’m going to say. That’s my baby, that’s my heart. I love him very, very much.

Read the rest of Vanessa Simmons’ interview.

There must be a lot of broken hearted guys out there if they read this interview! LOL.  Be happy for her, guys! Can’t wait to see Michael on future episodes of Daddy’s Girls.

But doesn’t this bring you to wonder about Angela Simmons’ boyfriend, Skillz?  When is Angela going to talk about him?  Any thoughts?

Angela Simmons: Engaged?

Angela Simons Engaged

You’re not supposed to believe everything the gossip blogs and magazines say. However our pals at Mediatakeout.com do have a point.  We all know Angela Simmons loves to accessorize, but what’s with that very large solitaire diamond ring doing on her left ring finger?  Doesn’t it make you wonder?  Is she engaged?  She has had a steady boo since last winter– Oscar “Skillz” Salinas of Grammy-winning producer duo (and brothers) Play-N-Skillz.

Well, while waiting for confirmation, let’s just talk fashion as usual, shall we?

Last weekend, after attending her sister’s birthday bash, she was seen in New York, having lunch with friends at Da Silvano restaurant.  Angela then shopped at the American Apparel in the West Village.  Effortlessly stylish, Angela trots on the sidewalks of NYC.

Looks very much like a scene from Angela and Vanessa Simmons’ reality show: Daddy’s Girls.  Were there any television cameras around?

Okay, take notes girls.  Angela’s formula to looking fabulously casual is: a plain white oversized t-shirt + black nylon activewear jacket + black leggings + sandals + aviator shades + loop earrings and last but not least, add a totally different but head-turning color splash: a bright red bag.

Oh and last but not least, invest in people’s love for you. Add a sprinkle of sweet smile, and wave a bit to the paparazzi.  Should there be no paparazzi around, just wave hi to people in general.  It never hurts to be nice.

Okay, speaking of love and all things nice, let’s go back to the engagement thing…

The Simmons Family’s Warm-Up Fashion

Add to GlobalGrind!

The last episode of Run’s House was just okay instead of excellent, telling viewers how Rev. Run made a deal with JoJo that if he can cook a ‘healthy’ fried chicken, he can get the keys of the Phantom and drive it to the city.  First of all, there’s no such thing as a ‘healthy’ fried chicken, and second of all… turned out that JoJo didn’t get to drive the Phantom to the city.  Another story arc was Justine, Diggy and Russy begging Rev. Run for a puppy to be their dog Pal’s friend, but no matter how hard the three tried to train Pal -as this was a requirement from Rev. Run, they still didn’t get a dog.  True it’s good not to give in all the time to everybody, but well, the episode wasn’t all cheerful.

However, there are some notable moments from the show:

Russy’s attempt to taste a dog treat.  Eeeeww! LOL!

Don’t you just love Angela’s expression when she tries out JoJo’s chicken?

And didn’t you just laugh out loud when Vanessa hugged JoJo and he made this face?  Siblings! LOL.  Look at that headpiece on Angela’s head.  Way cute.

Looks like Angela’s looking fly.  But the Daddy’s Girls star doesn’t look cold thanks to that off-shoulder top.  The rest of the family looked like they’re living on ice.  But they face the chills with style.

vanessa-laid-back-look

Even when she’s chillin’ at home, Vanessa Simmons always managed to look stylish.  Here she paired an oversized Adidas hoodie with a set of leggings and thigh-high socks.

Hang on, is that Russy?  When did he grow up?  He looks great in that bomber jacket!

diggy-warmup-attire

Not to be outdone by his little brother, Diggy Simmons paired a striped hoodie with this black bomber vest.  Nice look for an aspiring fashionista, Dig.

Although the chicken-frying gig didn’t work for him, JoJo Simmons scored big on the fly factor with this striped hoodie.

Justine looked HOT in this coat.  Tell you what, Pastryheads, coats can make you look great as long as you know how to wear them.  Maybe Justine’s attitude helped her to look great although as you might have seen, it must be cold that day they trained Pal!

Who do you think wore tha best warm-up gear, Pastryhead?

Vanessa Simmons And Her Positive Habit: Meditation

Add to GlobalGrind!

vanessa-simmons-with-fedora

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up, Pastryheads?

Some of you go straight to the bathroom to brush your teeth, while some of you laze around in bed.  Well maybe you ought to try meditation, because Pastry Shoes creator / Daddy’s Girls star, Vanessa Simmons, does meditation in her morning routine and she feels great.  Vanessa blogged about her inner yogi at GlobalGrind:

Hey Grinders 🙂 Today, I woke up feeling extra good about life and I decided to do something new!

I study the habits of different people I admire and today was my Oprah day! I read that she wakes up every morning between 4 and 5, so I awoke at 5:45 (pressed snoozed 3 x’s!) and started my day! I spent the first hour just meditating (at this early in the morning my mind was extra quiet) it was GREAT!

There are so many negative forces in the world that u have to create your positivity and that is exactly what I did! My song of the week is Mariah Carey “Can’t Take That Away” it’s a very inspirational song and got me through alot of hard times growing up (kids making fun of me for being different, picture that :p)

I now realize that “Everything I’m not made me everything I am today”…

Watch Runs House tonight @ 10 🙂

So let’s answer these questions on the comments page, Pastryheads.

1.  Whose positive habits are you observing right now, what are they and why do you want to do it?
2.  What’s your song of the week?

Weirdest, Wildest Shoes from All Over the World

Add to GlobalGrind!

…and you thought YOUR shoes hurt!

As much as we all love Pastry Shoes, there’s no harm in looking at alternative footwear, especially the unusual ones.  You know, based on a basic shoe history, human beings created shoes to ease running when they were hunting for animals.  And you know what, this is the kind of shoe they wear during the Ice Age.

iceman-shoes

You all might think, “GEEZ!  Won’t you get frostbite wearing just that on ICE?”  Well they probably got frostbites. What’s certain is, archaeologists have had difficulties in determining when human beings stopped going barefoot.  But they think, human beings started protecting their feet between 40,000 and 26,000 years ago.  And you know, we actually have stronger and thicker small toes than the ancient human beings! -Yet look at all our efforts to protect (and jazz up) our feet! LOL.  That pair of shoes were discovered in the French Alps and were worn by a preserved “Ice Man”.

The next shoes  look kinda creepy but it’s really interesting.  See them now.  Would you wear ’em?

kharams-shoes

Yes, they probably look like a torturing device, but they really bring peace to the wearer!  They are called Kharam shoes and they used to be (or maybe still) worn by many saints, scholars and gurus in India.  They wear these because they’re said to be able to give peace of mind and control of the senses.  The wooden peg between the toes is believed to massage specific pressure points.  The wood is considered to be one of the pure elements of the earth which keeps impurities from entering through soles of the feet.  Whoa, that’s pretty deep stuff.  And you know what, on ancient Indian sculptures, you can see gods and demi-gods wearing the Kharams.  Why of course, because the Indians believe that whoever wears these Kharams, are generally on the right path of righteousness and purification.

Err… yeah, maybe one should really try and do one’s yoga more regularly first before trying out any Kharams.   Wonder if Angela Simmons would wear them.  Anyway, the next shoes are…

cloud-climbing-shoes

You might think: Okay… this is some serious platform shoes.  They’re towering up to the sky and don’t look very stable.  Turns out that these shoes came from ancient China. They’re called “Cloud-climbing” shoes, and are common within the Manchu imperial court ladies.  The high platforms of the shoes are deemed to be enough for climbing clouds and standing on clouds.  They’re usually 12 centimeters in height and the platforms are made from wood.  The inner soles are covered with  a layer of cowhide.  The upper parts features a royal cloud embroidery on expensive silks.  Back then, these kind of shoes were only worn by royalties!

And if you think that crazy thick platforms are weird, check out these shoes:

shoes-with-flower-pot-soles

In a glance, they look like very trendy ankle booties.  But nooooo people, these shoes are the “Flower Pot” shoes. Also used to be worn by the ancient Manchu women, these shoes are the “it” thing to wear back then, with long robes.  The unique hoof-shaped soles will produce rhytmic sounds and it’s believed that snakes and insects will shun away when hearing the walking sounds.  History can say anything they wanna say, but from where I’m sitting, it might be kinda hard to go camping with those shoes.  But they’re beautiful nonetheless.

And last but not least, dubbed the PastryShoesCollection.com’s favorite unique shoes:

paper-shoes

Very cute aren’t they?

The downside part is, you can’t wear them because they’re made from paper and actually an artwork, created by an English artist: Jennifer Collier.  In this exhibit in Rochester, England, she featured non-functional dresses and shoes made from unconventional materials.  She even scours markets, charity shops, fruit and vegetable stalls and pound shops to find the materials to create her fabulous art.  It’s a way of reduce, reuse and recycle!

So from all the shoes above: which ones would you wear, Pastryheads?
